Austin ThompsonAustin Thompson is a puppeteer with over 20 years experience entertaining and educating both children and adults. Over his many years experience Thompson has written, directed, designed and developed shows and programs to educate and inspire. Thompson has worked in schools, foster programs, religious organization as well as theatre and film settings.
STUDENTS: Austin offers a 45 min (per week) program for 6 weeks. The program includes songs, story books visual aids and puppetry to teach students the importance of social emotional education, empathy primary colors and association. Student's will interact with varying puppets that create an atmosphere of open conversation and observation learning.
Puppetry can be used as a tool to teach any subject. This program will utilize puppetry to demonstrate to educators -- in classroom settings with their students -- how puppetry can teach empathy and social emotional education.

Puppetry and Education ProgramsAustin Thompson is a puppeteer with over 20 years experience entertaining and educating both children and adults. Over his many years experience, Austin has written, directed, designed and developed shows and programs to educate and inspire. Throughout his career Austin has worked in schools (working with the US public school system for over 15 years), foster programs, religious organizations as well as theatre and film settings. In the last 3 years, he has worked with the US National Wolftrap Early Arts Education through the Tobin Center Artist grant programs instructing teachers and students through the puppetry.
Austin's real world experience working with teachers and students has lead him to develop his own early arts education program utilizing puppetry to educate teachers and students. TEACHERS: This program will include a 4 to 8 week training dedicated to teaching educators puppetry techniques that will aid in classroom management and focus for learning modules. This program gives individual hands on experience in each teacher's classroom and is customizable to suit each teachers specific needs. Austin's program will utilize puppetry skills to demonstrate to educators, in classroom settings with their students, how puppetry can teach empathy and social emotional education; puppetry can be used as a tool to teach any subject. Teachers will get 45 minute hands on experience with their class with a 15 minute constructive evaluation to follow. Austin will help educators develop a plan on how to use the skills learned and apply them to their classroom. |
