Picture
"The Art of Baking" poster created by the skilled Matthew Van Gorkom was a process.  First the general idea was created.  The idea was to incorporate all of the characters that would be featured in the show. Each character was to be exhibited working in the position they have in the bakery.  Mr. D., the fox, was positioned in a way to present to the viewer the staff in his bakery.  Raul, the jaguar, was to be featured working with the batter for the cakes.  Although in the performance, he is featured with an industrial like mixer with lights and knobs it was decided a simple mixing bowl would convey his duty at the bakery.  Jae, the tortoise, being an artistic froster was set in a concentrated pose as she conveyed her craft of decorating confectionery masterpieces.  Claire, the Cow, was going to be placed on an elaborate machine but after a few changes the design took a turn to show Claire with a frosting hose.  Once the design and the elements were chosen,  Van Gorkom, made a quick sketch of the design.  Placement of characters and their positions were established.  The next phase was to create the attire for each character.  Once all of the elements were approved and put into place the final step of coloring the design was implemented.  Resulting in the poster you see for "The Art of Baking" puppet show.

Crosstitch Productions has some big projects in the works this year...Our first big project of 2014 Crosstitch Productions is Partnering with the Mongomery Museum of Fine Arts to create a one of a kind puppet show to teach children the importance of art and diversity.

The kids will learn from Mr. Durrie the French Fox and owner of the cake factory that "Art is everywhere."  Each character in the bakery will show that their particular differences, talents and skills allow them to work together in order to make tasty masterpieces.  All along children will learn about shapes, primary colors, cold and warm colors, patterns and what it takes to become and artist.
